ABCs of Jet Engines
ABC's of Jet Engines is an enjoyable animated film, produced in the 1950’s, about the basic principles of jet propulsion and turbine engines. How reaction engines work to create thrust is explained along with the function of each major component of centrifugal and axial flow turbine and turboprop engines including inlets, nozzles, shafts, wheels and blades, compressors, gear boxes, and exhausts.
The differences between the various types of air breathing turbines along with self contained rocket engines are also covered. This is an enjoyable film which offers a surprising amount of useful information for a students initial introduction to the workings of modern powerplants.
