The performance of an airplane can be predicted with reasonable accuracy by deduction from the physical laws which apply. However, so many variable enter into an airplanes performance that it is impossible to predict exactly by analytical methods. Therefore, just as "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" the proof of the airplane performance is in the flying.
