Fundamentals of
Modern Aviation
by Ian Mcclosky
Written as a primary text for high school level introduction to aviation maintenance vocational programs.
From the preface:
This book is an introductory text for students who are beginning their careers in aviation maintenance. It is a broad overview of the information taught in FAA certified aviation maintenance schools.
Aviation maintenance is a career field that started with the beginnings of aviation. A mechanic, Charles E. Taylor helped design and build the first aircraft engine used by the Wright brothers. That tradition of excellence, dedication, and safety continues to this day.
Every aircraft flying has been inspected and maintained by aviation professionals. People who are able to troubleshoot and repair the most complex of the aircraft's systems and return the aircraft to service. They may work individually or as part of a team whose job it is to service that aircraft.
